OMFG! Iron Maiden, please pay Derek Rigs to do your album covers like old times! This cover sucks! Eddie like I met at Killers has nothing like that Eddie! This Eddie is ugly, (OK, I know, I know.. Eddie, must be ugly), but he is very, very ugly! This Eddie looks like the Predator!

I like this album. The music is Iron Maiden, nothing new, but still well done, but this cover... I don't know....

This cover art was made by Melvyn Grant, the same guy who made Fear of The Dark and Virtual XI covers. I like Fear of The Dark cover, but this time...

I don't wanna a shirt with this art.. I'll keep using my old ones. When I look at this cover and compare with Powerslave cover, I feel sad with what's going on with Iron Maiden's covers. Derek Rigs, please come back!! =)

Eu não quero uma camiseta com esta arte .. Vou continuar usando minhas velhas. Quando eu olho para esta capa e comparo com a capa do Powerslave, eu fico muito triste com o que está acontecendo com o Iron Maiden cobre. Derek Rigs, por favor, volte! =)

Iron Maiden - Discography

I'm a huge fan of Iron Maiden. I already listen his albuns many and many times. In this days, I didn't listen too much, but sometimes, Evil That Men Do play in my shuffle iTunes Music and I rise de volume and sing it loud!

Well, Iron Maiden is not complete without Eddie and one artist can say "I created the Eddie" is Derek Riggs. His is the man! I love his works with Iron and others bands, but, in sometimes, I don't like some the album cover that he design… well, this is my oppinion. =)

Other guys like Melvyn Grant, Tim Bradstreet, David Patchett, Mark Wilkinson and Hugh Syme did contrinuition to Iron Mainden's album covers. But Only Derek Riggs made like 90 percent of Iron's album covers. His is also a member of Iron ;)

Iron Maiden - Running Free (Single)

This it was the firts album cover produced by Derek in 1980. The Iron's Logo was put too much close to the border, but the design I just like it.

The return of the master Derek Riggs. He painted the Eddies face and added the London's future in 3D. This was the last artwork made by Derek Riggs.

I really hate this cover! Argh! I read that the artist David Parchett (who made this ugly cover) ask to not be credited to this "artwork".

This album art was created by Tim Bradstreet. I really like this cover! Like old times ;)

Eu sou muito fã de Iron Maiden. Eu já ouvi esses discos um milhão de vezes cada! Hoje em dia não escuto tanto, mas toda vez que toca The Evil That Men Do no meu iTunes eu aumento o volume e canto junto com o Bruce ;)

Bem, o Iron Maiden não é completo sem o Eddie, e o único cara do mundo que pode dizer: "eu criei o Eddie" é Derek Riggs. Ele é o cara! Acho seus desenhos muito foda, tanto do Iron, quanto de outras bandas, mas algumas vezes ele faz umas coisas feias e eu não curto muito não.. enfim.. é a minha opinião =)

Outros caras também fizeram algumas capas dos discos do Iron como Melvyn Grant, Tim Bradstreet, David Patchett, Mark Wilkinson e Hugh Syme, mas só Derek Riggs fez 90 porcento das capas. Ele é quase um integrante da banda.

Don't try to kill me, this is only a personal list. This decade have been many changes. I tried to listen some non-metal bands and some of that really surprised me. To not be out of some conversations about Indies bands, I discover and listened a lot of bands, but after 4 or 5 years, I was tired and lazy about this Indie and Alternative bands and come back to good old metal. =) 

This list was too hard to put in order, so there is a criterion in that choice and the most important was: Number of times I heard the album. Other thing, as there were millions of released records, I'm sorry, but maybe I've missed some albums.

2001 - Pain Of Salvation - Remedy Lane (2002) 

This cover is a little ugly half, but the album is so good that the cover doesn't matters. When I started the researching of 2000's album, I've became very happy when I find this album. It was very easy to put it on Top. 

02 - Lamb Of God - Sacrament (2006) 

The first time I saw this cover and band name I thought: "Metal Gospel Band", but I read a review talking about Lamb of God and I decided to listen. I don't regretted. Again the cover did not help so much. 

03 - Iron Maiden - Brave New World (2000) 

Since Somewhere In Time Iron Mainden don't released one album so damn good like old times. Another Derek Riggs cover for Maiden don't need to talk about. It is perfect!

04 - Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings (2009) 

This album seem to me like an old Dream Theater with new sounds and more heavier. Very good. I don't like this cover, but in a general context, it's ok. 

05 - Opeth - Ghost Reveries (2005) 

Some people would say: If you don't like Opeth, you have a horrible music choices. (For metalmanics). The cover is pretty cool. Has exactly the album feelings. Heavy and dark, sometimes scary. =) 

06 - HIM - Venus Doom (2007) 

I still hear a lot this album! Really really good. Pure and good. Heavy Metal (or Love Metal by Vile Vallo) well done and with a cover that I liked a lot. Is hard to see digital art using oil painting language. 

07 - Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God (2008) 

Manowar + Death Metal = Amon Amarth. For those who like true metal and heavier and with Nordic mythology concept, will like Amon Amarth. The album cover looks like Conan cover comic book. Listen It! =) 

08 - Deftones - White Pony (2000) 

This album is damn good too. When I think in new metal, usually we remember Korn, Limp Bizkit and co, but I think Deftones is different. This cover has minimalist design and I really like it! 

09 - Muse - Absolution (2003) 

I don't have much to say about this fantastic album. Absolutely great! This cover was made by Storm Thorgerson, the same guy that done almost all Pink Floyd's covers. 

10 - Audioslave - Audioslave (2002) 

Another Storm Thorgerson's cover. When I heard this record I thought: "Holy crap!" It is "Rage Against The Garden". The perfect blend of RATM and Soundgarden. 

11 - Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos (2002) 

Fucking great Swidish Death Metal band. I like this cover.

12 - Los Hermanos - Ventura (2003) 

I really like this album. The best of Los Hermanos for me. I think the new Brazilian music owes much to them. Cool cover.

13 - Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf (2002) 

Fuck awsome! Alternative for Metal fans, and Metal for Alternative people. QOTSA is cool! 

14 - Cold Play - X & Y (2005) 

Ok, ok, you can talk Coldplay sucks, but I like them and for me this is the best album. =)

15 - As Tall as Lions - As Tall as Lions (2006) 

This is a totally unknown band from Long Island, NY. This cover has modern design and I like it. Worth listening to. Melodies well done and amazing music. 

16 - After Forever - After Forever (2007) 

In Metal music has many band like Nightwish, but I prefer After Forever. Band from Netherlands with great heavier sound, coolest than Lacuna Coil and other bands like that. Was a pity that they broken up. But Floor Jansen is now with one great band called ReVamp. Check it too!

17 - Extreme - Saudades de Rock (2008) 

An excellent return for those who already made fucking great albuns. Extreme deserves to be in the tops heads again. 

18 - Europe - Start From The Dark (2004) 

Another triumphant return. The eternal band of "Final Countdown", made this Hard Rock + Metal with lot of quality. 

19 - Weezer - Maladroit (2002) 

In my list, could not miss Weezer. It was the first non-metal band that I've heard and enjoyed. 

20 - System Of A Down - Toxicity (2001) 

They are more pop than metal, but is better kids listen SOD than emocore bands.

Que fique bem claro que essa é uma lista pessoal. Essa década foi de muitas mudanças. Tentei navegar por águas que não conhecia muito bem e com isso descobri algumas bandas não-metal que me surpreenderam bastante. Acho que tava meio por fora das conversas da galera por causa dessas novas banda de Indie e acabei escutando bastante coisa, mas depois de uns 4 ou 5 anos acabei cansado e com preguiça das bandas cult e que todo mundo acha ducaraleo e voltei pro bom e velho metal. =)

Segue minha lista, foi difícil demais colocar na ordem, portanto, há um critério nessa escolha. O critério que mais pesou foi: Quantidade de vezes que escutei esse disco. Outra coisa, como foram milhões de discos lançado, podem haver discos que não tenha lembrado.

Ok. A Capa é meio micreira, mas o disco é tão bom que a capa ficou de lado. Quando comecei a pesquisar os discos que tenho desse século fiquei muito feliz desse disco ser de 2002. Foi muito fácil colocá-lo em primeiro.

02 - Lamb Of God - Sacrament (2006)

A Primeira vez que eu vi essa capa e o nome da banda pensei. Banda Gospel, mas eu li uma matéria na Super Interessante falando das bandas novas que se preocupavam com as letras e resolvi escutar, não me arrependi. Foi com certeza um achado. Mais uma vez a capa não ajudou muito.

03 - Iron Maiden - Brave New World (2000)

Desde Somewhere In Time o Iron não fazia um disco tão bom! Genial. Igual aos bons e velhos tempos. As Capas do Iron com O Derek Riggs nem precisam de elegios ou críticas né? São a perfeita capa para um disco de metal.

04 - Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings (2009)

Esse disco me pareceu um Dream Theater antigo com timbres novos e mais peso. Muito bom mesmo. A Capa tem suas micragens, mas num contexto geral, é bonitinha.

05 - Opeth - Ghost Reveries (2005)

Opeth, como diriam por aí: Se você não gostar, você tem um gosto horrível. (Pra quem gosta de metal). A Capa é muito legal. Tem exatamente o clima que o disco tem. Pesado e sombrio, as vezes dá medo. =)

06 - HIM - Venus Doom (2007)

Até hoje escuto esse disco demais! Muito bom mesmo. Simples e sem firulas. Metalzinho bem feito e com uma capa que gostei muito. Difícil você ver por aí impressos utilizando pintura a óleo.


07 - Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God (2008)

Manowar Death Metal. Isso é o Amon Amarth. Pra quem gostar do true metal e de peso e também de conceito de mitologia nórdica, vai se amarrar. A Capa parece uma capa de Conan. Escute =)

08 - Deftones - White Pony (2000)

Esse disco é bom demais. Quando penso no new metal, logo vem na cabeça, Korn e cia, mas o Deftones é diferente. É mais bem feito e não tem aqueles clichês. A Capa mostra o design minimalista super bem feito.


09 - Muse - Absolution (2003)
Não tenho muito o que falar desse disco. Simplesmente foda. A Capa e de ninguém menos que Storm Thorgerson. O Mesmo das capas do Pink Floyd.

10 - Audioslave - Audioslave (2002)
Mais uma capa de Storm Thorgerson. Quando escutei esse disco pensei. Carak! É Rage Against of The Garden. É a perfeita mistura de Rage e Soundgarden.

11 - Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos (2002)

Death Metal de primeira. A capa é bacana. Nada demais.

12 - Los Hermanos - Ventura (2003)
Disco que gosto muito. Acho o melhor deles. Acho que a música brasileira deve muito a eles. Capa legal. Ponto, nada demais. =)

13 - Queens of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf (2002)
Disco foda! Metal pro Alternativo e Alternativo pro Metal. QOTSA é foda! Capa maneira.

14 - Cold PLay - X & Y (2005)

Podem me sacanear, mas eu gosto de Coldplay e pra mim esse é o melhor deles. =)

15 - As Tall As Lions - As Tall As Lions (2006)
Bandinha totalmente desconhecida de Long Island - NY. A Capa mostra o design moderno da época (2006). Vale a pena escutar. Melodias bem feitas e músicas surpreendentes.

16 - After Forever - After Forever (2007)
Muitos gostam de Nightwish, eu prefiro muito mais After Forever. Banda da Holanda com um som bem honesto. Mais legal que Lacuna e melhor que outras bandinhas de mulher no vocal.

17 - Extreme - Saudades de Rock (2008)

Uma volta excelente pra quem já fazia discos fodas. Extreme merece estar nas cabeças novamente.

18 - Europe - Start From The Dark (2004)

Outra voltar triunfal. Os eternos Final Countdown, fizeram um disco de Hard Rock Metal de muitra qualidade.


19 - Weezer - Maladroit (2002)
Na minha lista, não poderia faltar o Weezer. Foi a primeira banda não metal que escutei e curti.

20 - System Of A Down - Toxicity (2001)
Revolucionou o Metal da época. Eles são mais pop do que Metal, mas fizeram um monte de muleques que só escutavam CP22 a escutarem coisas melhores.
